Empty Bowls Project

Uptown Clay, Pottery, ceramics, Empty bowls

Some of the 180 bowls we made as part of the throw down

The bowls are all trimmed and gently drying in preparation of being biscuit fired next week.  It was a challenge to trim bowls that you hadn’t thrown, but it also spurred the creativity of the group who was trimming.  We got to experiment with trimming feet that we don’t normally use. I’m sure the folks who originally threw the pots would no longer recognize them.  Part of the fun of making pots as part of a group, it really takes you out of your comfort zone.  While trimming I was noticing how respectful everyone was treating the pottery and the effort it took another artist to make them.  What a great project!
